Robinson urged to knuckle down

West Brom manager Tony Mowbray has challenged defender Paul Robinson to prove himself indispensable at The Hawthorns. Robinson captained the Baggies for their Championship play-off defeat to Derby at Wembley in May but was missing for the 2-1 defeat at Burnley on the opening day of the current season. However, the 28-year-old, who had attracted attention from Wigan and Birmingham during the summer, was recalled for the 1-0 Carling Cup win over Bournemouth on Tuesday evening.

Mowbray said: "His performance showed everything he is about - he was aggressive, determined and full of quality. The goalposts seem to have moved with Paul in that he is now telling me he just wants to play football and get back with the team. However in Tininho we have signed a defender who has settled in very well so I would suggest Paul will need to continue showing his qualities if he is to get back in the side."
