Robson Pleased For Strikers

Ellington bagged a brace whilst Earnshaw scored once as the Baggies sailed into round three with a 4-1 win against one of manager Robson's former clubs.

"These games can be very awkward. There was a smaller crowd than normal and the atmosphere was not what it normally is," Robson said after the 2nd round victory.

"That can help to motivate a lower league side but I was pleased with our performance and we played some really good stuff.

"We created a lot of good chances and it was good to see Nathan Ellington and Robert Earnshaw get on the scoresheet as goals breed confidence for strikers.

"I am particularly pleased that Robert scored as he had a number of chances and this will be a big boost for him.

"We have to remember that this was against a lower league side but they Robert and Nathan did look a good partnership and it is something to consider in the future.

"It was also good to see Diomansy Kamara score and it was just unfortunate that he went off with an ankle injury as I would have liked to have seen more of him.

"I was also pleased with the way that Kanu played in the hole when he came on. We looked very threatening when he was in that role." The downside for Robson was the goal Albion conceded and the late dismissal of Martin Albrechtsen for a professional foul on Dean Windass.

"We gave away a bad goal and we can't afford to keep doing that," added Robson.

"Lapses like that will cost us in the Premiership. We need to start keeping clean sheets.

"As for Martin I think sometimes you need to use common sense. We were 4-1 up with 10 minutes to go and there was no way back for Bradford. I think that a yellow card would have been sufficient."
