Skipper hails Thomas impact

Scott Carson had nothing but praise for two-goal winger Jerome Thomas after the England international watched his team-mate score two goals against Reading and help Albion gain three valuable points.

Since his dismissal against Arsenal in the Carling Cup, his professional first, Albion have been on a mini-slump losing against Crystal Palace and Barnsley and drawing against Preston at Deepdale.

Thomas made a triumph return against the Royals on his return with Carson delighted to have ‘JT’ back on in the starting XI.

"Jerome's been desperate to get back on the pitch again after getting sent off at Arsenal and he's been a bit of a miss for us over the last couple of games," said Baggies skipper Carson.

"He offers us something a bit different, he can beat his man and get crosses in and he came back with a bang.

"He didn't have a point to prove to anyone in the dressing room, but I think he wanted to make up for lost time.

"He took the second goal really well, there were defenders bearing down on him and the 'keeper coming towards him, but it was a cool finish, great composure to slot it in."
