After keeping out the likes of Alonso, Crouch and Gerrard at Anfield on his debut and Ballack, Anelka and Joe Cole en-route to helping Barnsley to their first FA Cup semi-final since 1912, Luke Steele has completed a free transfer to the Tykes, penning a one-year deal with the Yorkshire club.

The 23-year-old did enough during his three-month loan spell at Barnsley to secure a permanent transfer from The Hawthorns where Steele made just two appearances during his Albion career after joining as part of the deal which took Tomasz Kuszczak to Old Trafford.

Steele had slipped behind Dean Kiely and January loan signing Michal Danek despite helping the Baggies to two vital wins in December away at Leicester and at The Hawthorns against Charlton.
