Still more to come from Di Matteo

Roberto Di Matteo admits there’s still progress to made despite Albion’s unbeaten start to the season.  This season under the former MK Dons chief the Baggies have been far more defensively dogged conceding 5 goals in as many league games however Di Matteo insists there’s still more to come.

Since his arrival in June, Di Matteo has struggled to find significant time on the training field with his team due to pre-season training, international breaks and a busy league and cup schedule.  While the former Italian international is delighted with the start under his stewardship, he admits it’ll take longer than two months to impose his own playing style.

“The break gave us a chance to do some work and assess a few players but still it's a matter of time to get the full dynamics of all of the players,” Di Matteo admitted.

"You can't imprint your style on the team in two months but I've been pleased so far.

"We hope to give a better assessment about halfway through the season or even towards the end.

"In the meantime we would like to continue our unbeaten record.

"We always go into games trying to win and the main thing is we give 100 per cent, and the commitment is there from the players.

"We can win, draw or lose a game but we will always try our best."
