Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez has set his sights on joining the Baggies.

The 27-year-old is keen to move to Albion in bid to improve his chances of first team football.

The former Burnley striker almost joined Albion last summer on a season-long loan before the deal was shelved at the last minute by the Saints.

Albion have now pressed ahead for a deal for the forward with a figure in the region of £12m believed to be on the table.

Rodriguez broke into the England squad after the Saints won promotion to the Premier League. But after suffering a long-term knee injury his first team opportunities have been limited.

He made 34 appearances in total last season scoring six times.

Meanwhile, the Baggies look to have missed out on Nigerian wonderkid Henry Onyekuru after the 20-year-old agreed a deal to join Everton.

The Toffees will pay £7m for the in-demand striker and loan him back to his former club Anderlecht for next season.
