The two clubs had agreed a £1.2million fee for the former Crewe striker but after considering the switch Hulse has decided against a move to the Britannia Stadium.

"Rob visited the club on Saturday and was impressed with everyone he met and what he saw at the club," Stoke's director of football John Rudge has said.

"However after discussing it with his agent and family over the weekend he's decided that it's not the right move for him at this point in time.

"He's keen however not to discount the possibility of a move to the club sometime in the future."
