Hot-shot striker Kevin Phillips has revealed his 17th goal of the campaign at Peterborough has taken the ex-England international a step closer to his personal target for the season. Each campaign the former Watford, Sunderland and Aston Villa striker sets himself a goal target as he aims to continue his impressive scoring record.

"I've always set myself targets over the years and told people what it is," 'Super-Kev' said.

"This year I have set myself a target and haven't said what it is and I'm close to it now.

"I'm enjoying things.

"From a centre forward's point of view when you're scoring goals it's great.

"Once I reach my personal targets anything else is a bonus.

As the 34-year-old creeps ever closer to his latest personal goal Phillips has set himself another target: promotion to the Premiership.

"Let's get promoted - that's my new target," Phillips continued.

"We all want a good run in the cup because the further you go, and the more games you win, the more confidence it breeds.

"It would be great to go all the way but the players, the manager and the club benefit more from getting to the Premier League."
