Tony Pulis earned his first point as a manager at Stamford Bridge after watching his battling Baggies side twice come from behind to draw with champions Chelsea.

Craig Gardner equaled Cesar Azpilicueta strike before the break with James McClean then scoring a deserved equaliser after Gareth McAuley's unfortunate own goal.

Pulis was again full of praise for this side after they again came from behind to take a share of the spoils.

"We showed great character," he said.

"We need 13 more points to get to 40.

"I'm pleased with everyone, had we not got something I'd have been disappointed. We played as a real team and I'd like to think our fans went away happy."

Pulis reserved special praise after the final whistle for Craig Gardner. The Baggies boss revealed 'Gards' was one of the best professionals he has worked with after watching him score an eye-catching 25-yard strike.

"Gardner came in and did really well.  He filled that pocket well and can strike a ball so well.

"He's one of the best Pros I've worked with.

"He works with the young players, he's here early and always has a great attitude."
