WBA boss eyeing seventh heaven

Tony Mowbray plans to add up to seven new players to his West Brom squad this summer - and wants a mixture of "soldiers and artists".The Baggies boss has been scouring both the British and European transfer markets in a bid to get more "balance" in his squad. Albion were a free-scoring outfit under Mowbray last season - but also leaked goals aplenty and the gaffer is keen to add some 'warriors' to the host of 'artists' he has at The Hawthorns. West Brom's midfield was often made up of four attacking midfielders last season, with the likes of Jason Koumas, Jonathan Greening, Robert Koren and Zoltan Gera getting regular action. And Mowbray - who has already signed Craig Beattie, Shelton Martis and Sherjill MacDonald this summer - knows he needs a more balanced team if he is to guide Albion back into the Premier League.
The former Hibernian chief said: "The squad needs strengthening and we need more players. I want a dressing room full of good players, all fighting for their jerseys and that may mean we bring in five, six, seven, who knows? The fans should be excited about wanting to see new players because football teams are about balance. Teams are made of soldiers and artists and you need to get the balance right and that's something we didn't have right last season. The warrior is just as important as the artist. We all saw it - supporters see a talented player beat three men and smash it into the top corner and become heroes - which is great because I love technical talented footballers - but I also need to try and build a team that will win week in, week out," he told the Birmingham Mail.
