WBA-MAD Player Ratings: Albion 1 Liverpool 2

Last updated : 17 May 2021 By Wba-mad Editor

Albion were controversially beaten by a last minute winner after a 2-1 home defeat to Liverpool.

Hal Robson-Kanu gave Albion the lead with a smart finish before Liverpool equalised via a wrongly awarded free kick.

Kyle Bartley then had a goal disallowed before Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson came up for a last minute corner to head home.

Here’s who caught our eye:

Sam Johnstone – 7

Made a couple of smart saves but could do little to stop either of Liverpool’s goals.

Darnell Furlong – 7

Was excellent defensively and made some important challenges to keep Mane quiet. Getting better with each game.

Kyle Bartley – 6

Was caught on his heels for Liverpool’s first goal but did little else wrong. Unlucky to have a goal ruled out for offside.

Semi Ajayi – 6

Looked a little jittery at times but did well to keep Firmino quiet.

Conor Townsend – 7

Another solid performance from Townsend who did little wrong against either Salah or Alexander-Arnold.

Okay Yokuslu – 6

Is more effective in a three-man midfield but still managed to break up play.

Conor Gallagher – 6

Same old story for Gallagher. Plenty of energy but no quality in either final third.

Grady Diangana – 5

A welcome return in an Albion shirt but struggled to make any impact.

Mathues Pereira – 6

A lovely pass for Albion’s goal but faded badly.

Hal Robson-Kanu – 7

A well taken goal and could’ve had more for better finishing. Led the line well.

SUBS

Ainsley Maitland-Niles – 6

Came on but had little impact in the game.

Jake Livermore – 5

Was given the captain’s armband as soon as he came on but struggled to impose himself in midfield.

Karlon Grant – 5

Offered very little to suggest he deserve another opportunity – either starting or from the bench.
