WBA-MAD Player Ratings: Bournemouth 2 Albion 2

Last updated : 09 August 2021 By Wba-mad Editor

Albion's first game back in the Championship ended in an entertaining 2-2 draw at Bournemouth.

Goals in either half from Dara O'Shea and Callum Robinson earned Albion a point after twice going behind.

Here's our official WBA-MAD ratings:

David Button - 6

Made two fine saves but left question marks after both goals. Needs more consistency if he's going to be a long-term replacement for Sam Johnstone.

Darnell Furlong - 6

Not as adventurous as he had been in pre-season and was given a solid test by Jaidon Anthony. Stood up to his defensive duties well enough though.

Cedric Kipre - 5

A surprise starter ahead of Ajayi and was at fault for both goals. Needs to improve his positioning and decision making if he's going to be a regular starter.

Kyle Bartley - 6

Looked solid enough at the heart of Albion's defence. Was dragged out of position twice for the two Bournemouth goals though.

Dara O'Shea - 6

The pick of Albion's back three and rose like a salmon for Albion's first goal. Looks a more accomplished player after a year in the Premier League.

Conor Townsend - 6

Played a key role in both of Albion's goals. After a trademark cross to find O'Shea's forehead for the first, he then battled to win the ball back for Albion's second.

Alex Mowett - 7* MOTM

An energetic start for Albion's new midfielder. Was happy to get involved first half when the Baggies pushed Bournemouth back and then pushed forward to help Albion find a way back into the game after the break.

Jake Livermore - 6

Plenty of energy, application and desire from Albion's captain but lacked any real quality or composure on the ball.

Grady Diangana - 6

Saw plenty of the ball in the first half but struggled to create any opportunities for his team mates. Limped off after the break after failing to impose himself on the game.

Karlon Grant - 6

Had one shot that whistled past the post but offered little else up front. Seems to go missing during large parts of the game.

Callum Robinson - 6

Buzzed around and provided plenty of energy to lead Albion's forward press. Brilliant finish to turn home Mowett's cross to bag a deserved point.

SUBS

Matt Phillips - 6

Not as energic up front but played a brilliant ball into Mowett's path to set up Albion's second. Will be an important player this season for Albion.
