Albion will have to overturn a one goal lead by Aston Villa in the play off semi final second leg after a 2-1 defeat at Villa Park.

After a number of decisions went against the Baggies in final 15 minutes, here's our player ratings from a frustrating afternoon.

Sam Johnstone: Had little to do but looked comfortable on his return to Villa Park. 6/10

Kieran Gibbs: Stupidly dived in on Grealish who took the opportunity to tumble over for Villa's penalty. Will need to offer more going forward on Tuesday. 5/10

Mason Holgate: Silly early booking but looked more comfortable when moved into a central position after Dawson was subbed at half time. 6/10

Ahmed Hegazi: Really solid from the Egyptian. Did the basics well and kept his concentration and composure throughout. 7/10

Kyle Bartley: Arguably his best game in Albion colours. Kept Abraham quiet with some close attention and was unlucky at the other end with a couple of dangerous headers. More of the same on Tuesday please. 7/10

Craig Dawson: Went off with sickness and dizziness at half time. Didn't look himself all game as Villa's attackers skipped past him on a couple of occasions. Another who will need to be back to full fitness on Tuesday. 5/10

Chris Brunt: Marshalled Albion's defence well in front of the back five. Didn't offer much going forward but still put in a couple of dangerous set pieces. 6/10

Stefan Johansen: Played with real intensity and kept Grealish quiet by not giving him a moment's rest. Limped off and Albion will hope he's back for Tuesday. 7/10

Matt Phillips: Managed an hour but never really looked at the races. Had a couple of opportunities to break free but lacked the sharpness to take advantage. 6/10

Jay Rodriguez: Started off really brightly and was unlucky not to find the top corner with his half effort. Tired as the game wore on and will need a huge performance from him with Gayle banned on Tuesday. 7/10

Dwight Gayle: Was brilliant until things started to unravell for him. Took his goal superbly but then picked up a needless booking and was then shown his marching orders for a challenge he didn't have to make. Now banned for the rest of the season. 6/10

SUBS

Tyrone Mears: Came on at half time and had a decent 45 minutes. Solid enough defensively but doesn't have the legs any longer to offer a threat going the other way. 6/10

Jacob Murphy: Had a couple of opportunites to break away but was let down by the final ball. 6/10

James Morrison: Only a couple of minutes for Mozza but is expected to start after Albion's suspensions and injuries at Villa Park. 6/10
