WBA-MAD Ratings: Palace 1 Albion 0

Last updated : 14 March 2021 By Wba-mad Editor

Albion suffered their second defeat in three games after losing 1-0 to Crystal Palace.

The Baggies enjoyed the early stages of the game with Conor Gallagher caught in two minds when in front of goal.

But after Darnell Furlong needlessly handled in the area, Albion were unable to find a way back into the game after Luke Milivojevic’s penalty.

Here’s who caught our eye at Selhurst Park:

Sam Johnstone 7

One brilliant save to deny Benteke. Had little chance with Palace’s penalty.

Darnell Furlong 4

Not for the first time this season his defensive failings have cost Albion. Started OK but his head dropped after giving the penalty away.

Dara O’Shea 7

Refused to be bullied by Benteke. Was aggressive in the tackle and again impressed alongside Bartley. Twice did excellent when left in 1-on-1 situations.

Kyle Bartley 6

Committed enough again and did well to keep Benteke and Zaha quiet.

Conor Townsend 6

Always willing to get forward and put a couple of really inviting crosses into the box. May have got an assist on another day.

Is there nothing this guy can’t do? Although many Albion fans will have been happy to have been kept away this season, it’s a travesty we don’t get to see him in the flesh. A brilliant player.

Conor Gallagher 6

Missed two great chances to find the back of the net. Was caught in two minds in the first half and then scuffed his shot after the break. Work rate was there, quality wasn’t.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles 6

Didn’t reach the levels he has in recent weeks. Struggled first half and was then shifted out to the left after the break.

Matheus Pereira 5

Another poor show. Albion fans will be questioning his place in the side after another no-show.

Matt Phillips 6

Wasted Albion’s best chance of the second half when he blasted a volley over when he needed a bit more composure. Offered more going forward but wasted a couple of good crossing opportunities.

Mbaye Diagne 6

Tried his best to bring others into the game but struggled in the first half to find his first touch. Had only half chances to equal the scores.

SUBS

Hal Robson-Kanu 5

Came on with 30 minutes to play but looks like a player who lacks the confidence to make an impact on games.

Robert Snodgrass 5

Failed to get into the game or provide any creative input.
