"We didn't start to play until the last 15 minutes and for the most part Wigan were as good if not better than us in all departments," he said after the 1-0 defeat knocked Albion from the top of the first division table.
"I picked a team that I thought would give Wigan problems but it just didn't work out.
"We gave away as bad a goal as we have done all season, but all credit to Horsfield, he is much maligned, but he is a quality player and you could see his strength."
