After only retiring from football a matter of weeks ago, former Arsenal, West Ham and West Bromwich Albion striker John Hartson has been offered the chance to manage Scottish Third Division minnows East Stirlingshire.

The 32-year-old would follow Gordon Wylde into the hot-seat with owner Spencer Fearn hoping for a decision this week.

"John is really keen and we had a great chat," Fearn said.

"He's going back to Swansea and we'll know on Tuesday if he's taken the job. This could be a big move for us and his first step into management."

Hartson's time at Albion will largely be remembered as a farce after making the switch from Scottish giants, Celtic. The former Welsh International only found the net six times during his time at The Hawthorns.
