West Brom manager Tony Mowbray insists getting to Wembley "means nothing" unless his players win promotion back to the Premiership. But Mowbray has promised the Baggies fans "at least a flicker of emotion" if Albion beat Derby in the play-off final. Relegated from the top flight at the end of last season, Mowbray's men can now look forward to a Wembley play-off final with Derby on May 28 after beating Black Country neighbours Wolves 1-0 at The Hawthorns. The Baggies had gone into the game on the back of a 3-2 first-leg victory at Molineux, and their 1-0 home win in Wednesday's second instalment ensured a 4-2 aggregate triumph. Striker Kevin Phillips did the damage on the night when he headed home in the 65th minute to score his 22nd goal of the season, and Albion's 100th in all competitions.
Mowbray said: "Getting to Wembley means nothing to me. There is no feeling of joy because I genuinely feel we have achieved nothing yet. There is nothing to celebrate - we have simply taken another step on the journey to the Premier League - and we have got to keep a cap on the emotion. "We have to remain professional and prepare properly to face very difficult opponents in Derby County. I can tell you for certain, because I have experienced it with Ipswich as a player in 2000, that if you go to Wembley and win it is the greatest feeling in the world, but if you lose it will be horrible."
Mowbray said his side were worthy winners on home territory after bouncing back from 2-1 down on Sunday. "We gave Wolves very few opportunities," the Albion boss said.
"We defended our box very well and we were always a threat going the other way - but we needed to perform better after Sunday's game. Diomansy Kamara and Jason Koumas did very well and Kevin Phillips popped up to do what he does best."
