Despite weeks of wrangling between Albion and former Baggies boss Gary Megson, Tony Mowbray has finally got his man with Ivory Coast international, Abdoulaye Meite, becoming the club's eight signing of the summer. The former Marseille and Bolton centre-half has signed a three-year contract, plus a year's option in the club's favour, for an initial £2 million pounds which could rise to £2.5 million depending on appearances.

The 27-year-old defender, who can also play at full-back, boasts UEFA Cup, Champions League, African Cup of Nations and World Cup experience was a regular at Bolton last season until falling out with the tempestuous Megson.

The 6ft. 1in. defender joined Bolton in the summer of 2006 and starred in the heart of Sam Allardyce's defence as Wanderers finished seventh and qualified for the UEFA Cup.
