Simon Cox’s prolonged transfer from Swindon Town has finally been completed for an initial £1.4 million pound.  The fee could rise a further £400,000 for the 22-year-old depending on performance related add-ons.

The former Reading striker finally signed at The Hawthorns yesterday after Albion reportedly agreed a fee and personal terms with the striker before the transfer window opened at the start of July.  Cox has signed a two-year deal, plus a further two years in the club’s favour.

"Simon is an exciting, young talent with bags of ambition, hunger and determination," Head Coach Roberto Di Matteo said about his first signing for the Baggies.

"He has a very good goalscoring record and I think he will be a great asset for our team next season.

"I've seen him many times and he has the ability to do well in the Championship.

"He had a lot of interest from other clubs, including one or two Premier League clubs, and we are very happy that he has signed for us."
