West Ham United defender James Collins could be on his way to The Hawthorns on a season long loan deal. Albion are waiting to find out whether Hammers boss Alan Curbishley is willing to loan out the defender who is currently sidelined after sustaining a cruciate knee injury back in January.

Although Collins would not be fit for the first few weeks of the campaign it is believed that Mowbray is interested in the Welsh international, taking him initially on loan with a view to a permanent deal, or one similar to the Ishmael Miller completed in January from Manchester City.

Former Albion boss Bryan Robson tried to lure Collins to The Hawthorns three years ago however the 24-year-old opted for a move to Upton Park.
