Jonathan Greening’s return to the Premier League still looks some way off after Albion rejected a second bid from Fulham – believed to be in the region of £3.25 million.

The 30-year-old Albion captain submitted an official transfer request prior to the trip to Slovenia, despite claiming his happiness at The Hawthorns.

The former Manchester United and Middlesbrough midfielder has been offered a new four-year contract at Albion but requested another chance to play Premier League football after relegation last term with the Baggies.  Greening has promised not to ‘rock the boat’ at The Hawthorns and will stay unless an offer is deemed acceptable by chairman, Jeremy Peace.

The club rejected an offer from Fulham believed to be in the region of £2 million cash, plus a player swap deal, which was described as ‘derisory’ last week.  It’s believed that Peace has set Greening’s price-tag in the region of £4 million for the club captain.
