Albion have made their first signing of the January transfer window welcoming youngster Jay Simpson until the end of the season from Arsenal. The pacy 20-year-old joins the Baggies and will be eligible for Saturday's visit of Peterborough in the FA Cup third-round (KO 3pm).

Although not featuring in the league for the Gunners, Simpson's stock dramatically rose as he played a major part when Arsenal's 'reserves' beat a full-strength Wigan outfit in the fourth-round of the Carling Cup with the youngster netting twice.

Simpson spent the majority of loan at Millwall last term making 41 league appearances and scoring six times from right-midfield. His impressive spell in League One also earned him the division's Player-of-the-Year accolade.
