Stoke have rejected West Brom's initial bid for Carl Hoefkens, although the Baggies have lined up a second offer for the Belgium defender. The Potters are under no pressure to sell their star names and fought off Sunderland's interest in skipper Danny Higginbotham earlier this summer. Tony Pulis hopes to land four or five new players before the new campaign gets underway - and the Welshman has been told the funds are there to complete the deals. However, Stoke may consider letting Hoefkens leave if Albion meet their asking price of around £1million. The 28-year-old is entering the final year of his contract at the Britannia Stadium and, with talks yet to begin over a new deal, City may decide to cash in.
