West Brom boss Tony Mowbray has signed Poland striker Bartosz Slusarski for £680,000 from Polish outfit Groclin Dyskobolia. The 6ft 1in targetman has signed a two-year deal at The Hawthorns and becomes the Baggies' 12th new signing of the summer. Slusarski has made two appearances for his country and played for Polish clubs Lech Poznan and Widzew Lodz. He spent last season on loan at Portuguese side Leiria. Mowbray, who also has Kevin Phillips, Craig Beattie, Ishmael Miller, Nathan Ellington and John Hartson battling for strike berths.

Mowbray said: "Bartosz is a player we invited over to train with us after having him watched live. I believe he will add to the fierce competition we've got up front and offer us different qualities to the strikers we already have on board. He likes to get into the penalty area and get on the end of things in and around the six-yard box. Bartosz isn't the type of striker who's necessarily going to lift supporters out of their seat with dazzling skills. but he brings other attributes. He is strong, brave, can hold the ball up and gets into the box."
