Beattie heads to Preston

Craig Beattie will join former Albion players Darren Carter and Richard Chaplow at Deepdale after joining fellow Championship side Preston on loan until the end of the season.

The Scottish international striker only joined the Baggies in the summer after making the switch south of the border from Celtic scoring just four goals. However the 24-year-old has found first-team opportunities limited at The Hawthorns largely down to the form of fellow strikers Kevin Phillips, Ishmael Miller, Roman Bednar and the recent arrival of Luke Moore from Aston Villa.

Beattie has been handed the No.10 shirt and will go straight into PNE's squad for tonight's clash against Leicester City. Albion have included a 24-hour recall option on Beattie after the first 28 days of the loan.
