Bednar's Euro Dream

Roman Bedner has revealed his hope of reaching Euro 2008 next summer, but only if he smashed the 20-goal barrier for the Baggies.

Recent performances, including a debut brace, has reinforced the quality of the 6ft.3in Czech striker, expected to make his full home debut against Coventry City this evening.

After obtaining a single cap as a substitute during the 3-1 home friendly defeat to Serbia 16 months ago injuries have hampered any further caps for his country.

"I played one game for my country and it was very bad." Bednar said.

"I played 20 minutes and it wasn't a good day for me.

"It was nice to make my debut but I don't think I had the chance.

"I have never given up and if I score 20 goals maybe I will be there."

Bedner also admitted feeling nervous ahead of tonight's game and claimed he cannot wait for the chance to play alongside top-marksman, Kevin Phillips.

"I'm looking forward to it."

"I'm a little nervous but never scared.

"I can learn from Kevin." He added.

"He has a great touch, movement and experience.

"He is a fantastic player and I can see that close up now in games and training.

"It would be nice to play with him."
