Scott Carson has reassured Albion fans he won’t be heading for the exit door after pledging to see out his four-year contract with the Throstles.

Following Paul Robinson’s exit to Bolton and speculation linking Jonathan Greening with a move away, Carson has quashed any doubts where his future lies.

The former Leeds and Liverpool stopper signed a four-year contract after a £3.25 million transfer last summer, and despite dropping down to the Championship in a World Cup season, Carson sees his future at The Hawthorns.

“I signed a four-year contract, so I am going to see that out,” the 23-year-old said.

“Hopefully we’re going to have a good season and get the club back up into the Premier League where it belongs.

“I haven’t had a chance to speak to England and in the summer no-one really mentioned it.

“But there is nothing else I can do. I’ve got to get on with it. Hopefully I can I stay in the squad.

“It’s going to be difficult because I’m sure the England manager’s first thoughts will be on people who are playing in the Premier League.

“But the Championship is still a good league. Whether he will take that risk, I don’t know.

“All I can do is work hard, hopefully play well and try to get back into his thoughts.”
