Clement out of opening game

Neil Clement is set to miss the first two-weeks of the season with a knee injury he picked up during the pre-season draw with Real Mallorca. Albion's longest serving player injured his right knee in the first-half and was replaced after only 18 minutes. The injury is not thought to be serious and is not in Clem's troublesome left knee.

The injury means that new signing Abdoulaye Meite will most definitely make his debut at The Emirates despite not being fully match fit after a disrupted pre-season at Bolton.

Clement joins fellow absentees Robert Koren and Luke Moore on the treatment table with both expected to be available for the Everton game.

"Robert and Luke are probably about a week away, while Clement is around two weeks away," Baggies boss Tony Mowbray said.

"Meite is in the squad and is traveling.

"He's been getting on with things.

"He had a couple of 45-minute run-outs with Bolton in pre-season.

"We've got to get his fitness levels up and get on with it."
