Gaardsoe doubtful for opening fixture

The Danish defender is still suffering the effects of a twisted ankle sustained while playing for former club Ipswich Town in their friendly against Southend.

“Thomas is hopefully only a few days away,” Baggies boss Gary Megson told the clubs official website.

“But I don't think he will be okay for the weekend.

“Even if his ankle is right he’s missed a lot of pre-season.”
