Ish's England Dream

January signing Ishmael Miller has revealed his Premiership and personal ambitions as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury. The former Manchester City forward signed for an initial £900,000 in the recent transfer window, penning a three-and-a-half year deal, and has set his sights international recognition during his stay at The Hawthorns.

Miller is hoping to return to first-team action next Tuesday when Sheffield United visit the shire or at next Saturday's FA Cup fifth round tie at Coventry.

"Hopefully I'll be training tomorrow or Friday," Miller said.

"I've been working with the physios and doing a bit of rehab.

"I spoke to the manager yesterday and we both thought it would be a bit early to try and come back for the Barnsley game.

"There is no point risking it.

"Hopefully we can get the three points and I can try and get back for the Sheffield United game or the Coventry match."

The 20-year-old has already had a taste of international football during his time at The Hawthorns with his impressive early season form resulting in a call-up by former manager Stuart Pearce to the England Under-21s.

"I want to help take Albion to the Premier League and then see what happens," Miller continued.

"I'd like to be here for many years and play for England.

"One of the main reasons I chose to sign permanently here is that I feel it is where I can fulfil my potential.

"I'm hungry to play for my country and seeing what the Villa boys have achieved gives me hope.

"I just need to get my head down, work as hard as possible and then you never know.

"I know Curtis Davies and we're in touch from time to time.

"I played against Gabby Agbonlahor loads of times as we were growing up and I've met Ashley Young a few times.

"Hopefully, if we can get promoted and keep plodding away, then our young players will be on the same platform as them.

"There are players in the England squad from Villa, Wigan and Everton so you don't really have to be playing for the top four in the Premier League to make the England squad now.

"You just have to be in good form.

"The new manager has picked a few new players and hopefully I can be one of those new players in the future."
