Kevin Phillips' goal scoring talents have been rewarded with the FourFourTwo Player of the Year in the Coca-Cola Championship. Just twelve months after former midfielder Jason Koumas bagged the same title, Phillips had double reason to celebrate being voted top of the FourFourTwo Top 50 Football League Players.

The Baggies' top scorer has been in fine form this season smashing 17-goals in the process and thanked both his team-mates and manager, Tony Mowbray for his success.

"I never dreamt 12 months ago that I'd be here a year later picking up the award myself," Super-Kev admitted.

"It says a lot about Albion and a lot of credit must go to my team-mates and the manager.

"It's nice to win awards anytime but even more so at my age.

"The team creates lots of chances and we are a team that score a lot of goals.

"We have scored more than anyone in the whole league and that goes to show that we are an exciting team to watch and you are guaranteed goals if you come and watch us.

"It has given me a new lease of life and I enjoy playing with this set of lads.

"Jeff Stelling has just told me that I am on 198 career league goals so hopefully I can smash that barrier this season and then see where I end up."
