On loan forward Jay Simpson has revealed his delight after scoring his first goal in the top-flight against Hull at the weekend.

The 20-year-old pace ace dedicated his first goal in the Premier League to the Baggies' travelling support, who he claims, have helped him settle into life at The Hawthorns.

Simpson opened his account in Albion colours during the FA Cup third-round replay against Peterborough and broke his Premier League duck in the 53rd minute after slotting home past Matt Duke in the Tigers' goal.

"It's a great feeling to get off the mark in the Premier League," Simpson admitted.

"I've always wanted to play in this division and hopefully this goal is the first of many.

"I've come here and I've been playing every week.

"That's what football is all about and I want to be playing regularly.

"Albion have given me the chance and I'm taking it.

"The boys and the staff have really made me feel welcome here.

"The fans have been great to me as well, so it was a great chance to celebrate with them.

"We showed our character and everyone is happy with the point.

"Our home form is good and we need to pick points up away from home, which we've done today.

"Maybe we should be disappointed not to get all three.

"But the league is really close and if we can get a couple of wins together we can jump up the table."

Simpson has been joined by fellow loanee, Marc-Antonie Fortune, at The Hawthorns with the pair starting the last three games up-front together and starting to form an impressive partnership.

"From the day Marc came in we linked up well," the young striker added.

"I think we complement each other.

"He works hard, runs the channels and we can both go long or come short, so it works well."
