West Brom midfielder Jonathan Greening thinks some of Albion's youngsters are ready to challenge for places in the first-team squad.Youth players Jack Compton, Michael Nardiello, Adie Manchester, Scott Mason and Joss Labadie were all given senior run-outs in the Baggies' opening pre-season friendly at Histon.

"All the young lads have done well," Greening told the club's official website. "They don't look out of place in training and they could get their chance this year because the gaffer is not afraid to throw youngsters in."

Jared Hodgkiss, Stuart Nicholson and David Worrall also got their chance during Albion's two-game tour of the Balkans and Worrall particularly impressed Greening.

He said: "From what I have seen of David it looks like he's got all the right things you need to make it to the top. He's not a shy lad and wants to get involved in training and I hope he gets a chance this year."
