Koren admits disappointing run

Slovenian captain Robert Koren admits it's been a difficult last seven games in the Baggies camp after picking up a solitary point out of a possible twenty-one. The baron spell of points has left the Baggies propping up the table - albeit only four points away from safety.

Koren's misery was compounded at Stoke on Saturday when the Baggies were only minutes away from picking up a valuable point before conceding all three in the 84th minute.

"There are no excuses," the midfielder admitted.

"We are really disappointed with the last result, especially conceding so late on.

"To take only one point from the last seven games is disappointing but we need to stick together and we are still full of confidence.

"We will keep going and we will pick up points.

"Hopefully in the next game we will get some points.

"We are bottom so every game is huge.

"We put ourselves in this position and we need to work hard to get out of the bottom three.

"We won't look too far ahead and just concentrate on Saturday's game at Wigan."

Saturday's trip to the JJB will be the first time ex-Albion midfielder Jason Koumas will face his former club after his £5.3 million transfer away from the Hawthorns following the Play-Off Final defeat at Wembley. Koren is full of admiration for his fellow team-mate but insists his colleagues must focus on their own performance before worrying about the Welsh international.

"Koumas is a really good player," Koren continued.

"He has really good skills and is dangerous when he gets the ball.

"But they also have several other good players and we need to stop the whole team.

"The main thing is to be focused on ourselves, concentrate and be compact for the whole game, create chances and score some goals to take the points.

"It will be a really difficult game."
