Robert Koren is hoping Luke Moore gets his chance to shine in the first-team after his impressive start to pre-season.  After only scoring one goal in effectively one-and-a-half seasons at The Hawthorns, the former Villa striker has been in a rich vein of form hitting the target twice in three games.

Now, after being seemingly overlooked by former manager Tony Mowbray, Koren, the Slovenian captain, would like to see Moore get his chance at a prolonged run of games under new head coach, Roberto Di Matteo.

“Luke has been with us a long time and he hasn't had much opportunity to show what he can do," said the midfielder, who also scored against Shrewsbury last night.

"He is a good player and is working hard in training.

"Every game so far he has tried really hard and he has scored a couple of goals, which is good for his confidence.

"I hope he will work hard and stay free of injury and get a chance to show he is a good player.

"It looks like our coaches have a lot of confidence in him.

"And this is a chance to show he is good enough."
