Koumas committed to Baggies cause

Jason Koumas has insisted he is totally committed to West Brom, amid reports linking him with a move away from The Hawthorns in January. Blackburn are believed to be keen on the 27-year-old Welshman, who signed a new three-year deal with West Brom in the summer. However, Koumas is convinced he will not be sold in the New Year, as he believes such a move would thwart The Baggies' bid for promotion to The Premiership. "There's one job we have here - that's to get promotion and make sure we're in The Premiership next season," Koumas told the Birmingham Mail. "I'm 100 percent committed here and want to repay the club. "The fact is I know where I'm going to be for the next few years and it's nice to have my future planned out. "West Brom have looked after me and I want to repay them. Speculation is going to happen - your better players will always attract bigger clubs. "They always want to strengthen and look to teams like us but I am very positive nothing will happen in January because it's far more important this club goes up than makes a bit of money, which, I'm sure, is exactly what the chairman would say anyway." Koumas is confident that West Brom will hold onto all their best players in January, just as they managed to keep the core of their squad together following last season's relegation. "If we do start selling then what's the point? I don't think anyone will be going in the New Year," he said. "We all want the same thing at this club - we all want promotion and I would be very, very surprised if anyone goes in January." Koumas also believes West Brom have the best squad in The Championship and are well set to go up this season. "If you asked every manager in this division they'd say we have the best squad," he claimed. "For us top two is important - we must not even think about the play-offs. "This team is hitting top form and when we do I don't think anyone will touch us."
