Shelton Martis has left The Hawthorns after signing for Doncaster Rovers on a three-and-a-half year contract.  The former Hibs man joined the Baggies for just £50,000 back in July 2007 but saw first team opportunities limited and joined Rovers on loan back in October 2008.

Following the 27-year-old’s stay at the Keepmoat Stadium, Martis joined Scunthorpe United on loan for a month before returning to make his Premier League debut following injuries to Tony Mowbray’s backline.  Martis initially impressed and kept his place in the side with the club deciding to extend his contract.

Martis started the first ten games for the Baggies and helped Albion during their nine-game unbeaten streak but lost his place to Abdoulaye Meite.  The arrival of Gabriel Tamas also saw ‘Shelly’ drop down the pecking order behind the Romanian and Jonas Olsson and Abdoulaye Meite.

In total Martis made 25 appearances for Albion, including four as a substitute, netting twice for the Baggies.
