Megson hails striker Hughes

Hughes came off the bench to bag a double, his first goals since rejoining the club from Coventry last year, and Megson was delighted.

"Since he came back it's been a bit stop-start for Lee as regards getting in the team,” said Megson after the victory at the Hawthorns.

"Last season in the Premiership he couldn't have done much more - it just didn't go for him.

"But his first goal was marvellous. It really was top class. It wasn't thrashed in, it was placed in the top corner like we've seen Lee do time and time again in the past.

"After that you saw the real Lee Hughes. His confidence was up and he was direct.”
