Meite arrives for talks

Despite Tony Mowbray admitting a deal for Ivory Coast international Abdoulaye Meite was 'dead in the water' earlier in the week it now seems that the Baggies are in pole position to secure his signature. Premiership new boys Hull City have also agreed a fee with Bolton for the defender however it is believed Albion are his preferred destination.

Meite has been one of Mowbray's top targets this summer with a number of bids being turned down with former Albion and now Trotters boss, Gary Megson, taking a familiar stubborn stance. However the arrival of Danny Shittu at the Reebok Stadium has signalled the end for Meite at Bolton with a decision expected within days.
