Midfield maestro James Morrison is looking forward to returning to his old stomping ground on Saturday claiming he has a point to prove to his old club. The Scottish international swapped Teeside for the Black Country little over a year ago and will return to the North East for the first time this weekend.

The former 'Boro Academy graduate scored three times in 67 Premiership appearances, including 27 as a substitute, for his hometown club before joining the Baggies in a £1.5 million pound deal. The 22-year-old is now relishing the chance to show Middlesbrough what they missed out on after scoring twice in five Premiership appearances this term.

"I don't have any regrets from my time at Middlesbrough other than it being my hometown club and I wish I could have done a bit better," Morrison admitted.

"I've come here and I think I had something to prove in terms of showing I have ability and can play at the top level.

"I'm just starting to do that now.

"Middlesbrough wanted me out to get some money in for players.

"But I don't have any problems with Gareth Southgate or the club.

"I'm not the sort of person to bear grudges.

"Inside of me I feel I have something to prove from the point of view that they let me go.

"At the end of the day it is business and they might have thought it was good business.

"I just let my football do the talking."

Morrison added: "No disrespect to the Championship but last year I didn't have butterflies when I went out to play.

"This year I'm getting butterflies and it's always good to get them.

"I'm sure I'll have butterflies on Saturday.

"I've heard sometimes when people go back to their old clubs they try too hard.

"I'll try not to get too wound up.

"I'm just going to try and enjoy it."
