The FA Cup came as a welcome relief as Albion returned to winning ways putting Coventry to the sword with a five-star performance at The Ricoh Arena. Backed by a huge travelling army of 6,000 fans goals from Chris Brunt, Roman Bednar (2), Zoltan Gera and Ishmael Miller's 11th goal of the campaign put Albion into the quarter-finals for the first time in six years.

A confidence boosting win as Albion look to regain a place in the automatic promotion places, manager Tony Mowbray could not hide his delight praising his teams efforts.

"We do score a lot of goals both home and away and it was nice to score five - that's some feat," Mowbray beamed.

"It was important to get back to winning ways and we did that quite emphatically today.

"We've shared the goals around all season and it was good for Ishmael to come off the bench and score.

"Roman continued in the same vein with two more as well.

"Today wasn't really a 5-0 game. It was tight in the first half.

"But, after a defeat and a draw, it was important for the team to get back some morale, confidence and belief."

Although promotion is high on the agenda at The Hawthorns the fifth-round victory now puts Albion only one win away from a semi-final date at Wembley with a number of clubs outside the Premiership contesting the quarter-finals.

"There's the potential to get to a semi-final," the Albion boss continued.

"There are some Championship teams and a League One team still left in the draw.

"I think we're due a home draw and if it was against a Championship or League One club, we'd have to fancy our chances of getting through.

"But if we draw Manchester United or Chelsea away, then we have to get on with it.

"The league remains our priority and we'll get our minds focused on Saturday's game against Hull very quickly - followed by Plymouth.

"We've got to be driven to pick up six points from the next two games.

"There is no point in getting to a semi-final and then missing out on promotion.

"But whatever comes along we'll give our best and try to win."
