West Brom manager Tony Mowbray is confident Sherjill MacDonald can recover from knee surgery before the end of next week. The Holland Under-21 striker, who is on loan from AGOVV Apeldoorn, went under the knife after succumbing to a cartilage problem but is expected to return to be available for the trip to Coventry on Saturday week. Mowbray said: "Sherjill's surgery went very well. He had a small clean-up operation and we would hope he will be back in training next week and putting himself in contention for the Coventry game. He seemed to pick up the injury and keep it to himself for a week or two and inevitably his quality dropped off a little bit. "He was trying to mask his injury to stay involved, but eventually it came to the fore he was struggling with his knee and that it needed addressing."
