Mowbray out for away points

Tony Mowbray has admitted Albion will have to add to their solitary victory away from The Hawthorns and sees no better place to start than at Fulham. The Cottages hold one of the best home records in the division, and although Albion currently have one the worst away records, Mowbray is confident his troops can cause an upset.

The Baggies' travelling form has been a major issue having won only four games away from The Hawthorns during their time in the Premier League. So far this campaign draws at Bolton and Hull, plus a win at The Riverside Stadium, has wielded five points. And while Mowbray admits his side are slightly unfortunate not to have not collected more points on their travels he now believes it's time to turn performances into points.

"It's about time we won another away game," the Baggies boss admitted.

"Three of our next four are away, and Arsenal at home is the other game, so winning some away matches - be it at Fulham, Everton or West Ham - is part of the challenge.

"We know we need to get the basics right but we know we can do it, as we've proven a few times this season.

"It's about time we turned some of the half-decent away performances into points.

"Let's hope we can pick up points in all three of these away games."

While Mowbray has expressed his desire to pick up more points on the road he's yet to issue a points target for Premier League survival. Albion are currently just two points off safety with crucial games still to play against fellow strugglers.

"I don't know how many points we'll need to stay up," Mowbray continued.

"The last time we played, none of the bottom six won.

"I saw Gareth Southgate quoted that they need five more wins to stay up - and they're on the same points as us.

"Are there five games we can win at home?

"I would suggest there are.

"I'd like to think we can win a few away from home too.

"We've done okay away and not had the rewards but I'm pretty confident that we can get them.

"Sometimes, the opposition can see you're at the bottom and half expect to win.

"On those days, we need to be ready and give them more than they bargained for, which I think we are capable of doing."
