Albion boss Tony Mowbray has used the time between Saturday's last minute defeat at Ipswich and tonight's trip to Edgar Street to brief his players on this season's tactics. Mowbray openly admitted that the weekend's game at Portman Road was the first time in pre-season where tactics had been used. Despite the last minute defeat to the Championship outfit, Mowbray insists the 4-5-1 formation is one which will be used during the course of the season with the Baggies boss using the 4-day break to drill in essential tactical details.

"We've come away for various reasons," explained Mowbray before he departed for an Essex hotel.

"The players worked extremely hard during our week in Holland and we decided to play Ipswich because I thought they would give us as close a test to a Premier League side away from home - due to the way they play football - as there is out there.

"We'll be walking through a lot of scenarios - things that might happen on the pitch next season.

"It's more of a tactical get-together."
