James Morrison is set to give Albion a pre-season boost with the news he is ready to sign a new deal at The Hawthorns.

Morrison's contract runs out at the end of the month and it was expected he would end his nine-year stay in the Black Country.

Middlesbrough were believed to be keen to snap up the experienced 29-year-old on a free transfer - almost a decade after leaving on a £1.5m deal to the Baggies.

But Morrison now seems to have had a change of heart about staying at the Baggies and is expected to pen a new deal that would significantly improve his existing salary.

Albion expect to formally announce Morrison's new contract next week.
