Tony Pulis reserved praise for captain fantastic Darren Fletcher after watching the Baggies beat Manchester United in the top flight for the first time in more than 30 years at The Hawthorns.

Salomon Rondon’s volley midway through the second half earned Albion all three points after Juan Mata saw red for two silly bookings.

The victory moved Albion on to 39 points with 9 games still remaining of the season and virtually guaranteed another season of top flight football.

“Fletch is a great player to have. He's old school. There aren't many players like him,” said Pulis.

He has that drive, that fire in his belly that has been dampened down in the recent generations of players.

But since he came to this club he has been a fantastic player for us on and off the pitch.”
