Tony Pulis admitted Albion had put on their worst away display in their 1-0 defeat to Newcastle in his time in charge.

The Baggies were second best on a disappointing 90 minutes in the North East.

Albion's head-coach again watched as the Baggies drew a blank in front of goal having failed to have a shot on target - for the third time in four matches.

Pulis said the performance was not good enough and sympathised with Albion's travelling fans.

"I've been with the club for over a year and that's the most disappointing away performance we've had.

"We shadow boxed for 90-odd minutes. Newcastle was just better all over the pitch.

"It's a disappointing result for us.

"Today I totally understand their (fans') frustrations.

"They've seen us score two goals in games at Chelsea and Liverpool but today we were just not good enough.

"It's very disappointing."
