An incredible hat-trick of headers pushed Salomon Rondon into the record books and West Bromwich Albion back up to seventh.

The Venezuelan struck three times in 13 second half minutes to sink sorry Swansea.

In doing so, he became only the fifth West Brom player to bag a Premier League treble.

Express and Star

A crowd of just 21,467, the Baggies’ lowest-ever in the Premier League, was treated to the sight Rondon scoring the club’s first hat-trick in the division since Romelu Lukaku in May 2013.

The Venezuelan striker blew away the struggling Swans in a 13-minute second half barrage, all three goals converted with his head, ensuring his team quickly regained any momentum lost from Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at Chelsea. It was only the second all-headed treble in the Premier League, matching the achievement of Duncan Ferguson for Everton against Bolton in 1997.

More importantly, it earned a victory which saw Albion, with 13 points from their last six games, jump back up to seventh in the table ahead of Saturday’s visit of Manchester United to The Hawthorns. Pulis’ team will go into that game as underdogs but on this form - and particularly on their home ground - they cannot be taken lightly.

Salomon Rondon's quickfire hat-trick maintained West Brom's unlikely European charge as he inspired the Baggies to a 3-1 win over Swansea.

The striker netted his first-ever treble for Albion in 13 second-half minutes as the hosts rose to seventh in the Premier League.

Three headers sunk Swansea and Tony Pulis' side have now won four of their last six games and, although Pulis refuses to discuss Europe, it remains a growing possibility.

In contrast, defeat left Bob Bradley's Swansea three points from safety and fellow strugglers Middlesbrough, who they travel to on Saturday.

Telegraph

Salomón Rondón is emerging as one of the Premier League’s most formidable strikers after a 13-minute hat-trick of headers extended the feelgood factor at West Bromwich Albion.

Rondón recently admitted he detests the freezing conditions of winter in England but he was too hot for Swansea to handle, with his three goals sentencing Bob Bradley to another forgettable away game.

The £12 million striker will not always benefit from such dreadful defending but with Rondon in this form, Albion’s ambitions of securing European football next season do not seem so fantastical.
