Even though Nacer Chadli, much like the rest of his newly adopted side, grew into his competitive debut at the Vitality Stadium, for now the same strengths and weaknesses of this team remain.

Solid at the back, but toothless in attack, Albion were unable to cling on to their second successive goalless draw and now have just one win in their last 13 Premier League games.

Albion failed to make the most of their purple patch and were soon punished.

Not through Stanislas, whose angled drive was kept out by Foster’s legs.

But by Wilson who had time and space to find the bottom corner with a controlled finish.

The goal killed any momentum Albion had and the hosts saw the match out under no real pressure.

Pulis voiced his frustration at the club’s failure to bring in bigger names during the transfer window although he was able to field Nacer Chadli, West Brom’s £13 million record signing from Tottenham Hotspur. Apart from a positive spell at the start of the second half, however, when Bournemouth keeper Artur Boruc produced fine saves to deny Craig Dawson and Saido Berahino, Pulis’s side were second best.
