Albion weathered that mini storm and should have retaken the lead before they actually did.

Phillips and Craig Dawson were both denied and a Slimani clearance was blocked on the line before Phillips punished Danny Drinkwater’s dreadful back pass with a super cool dink over Zieler 18 minutes from time.

It was Phillips’ first goal for the Baggies, but was taken with all the compsure of a man you’d think had scored bucket loads.

Express and Star

James Morrison was given his first Premier League start since January, and not only did open the scoring, but he gave Tony Pulis's side some much-needed composure on the ball.

He wasn't the only Albion midfielder who impressed. Matt Phillips made his intentions clear early on with a rasping low drive that Ron-Robert Zieler, standing in for the injured Kasper Schmeichel, did well to fingertip around the post.

Chris Brunt looked to play forward as often as he could and Darren Fletcher, who has been woefully off form recently, had one of his best games of the season.

Telegraph

For the first time in 21 league games, a run stretching back to late September, Claudio Ranieri’s fortress was breached after Matt Phillips secured a deserved victory for West Brom, taking full advantage of Danny Drinkwater’s poor backpass.

This was a defensive, and tactical, masterclass from Pulis as the champions were made to look distinctly ordinary, falling to a defeat which leaves them just two points above the dreaded dotted line.

Matt Phillips delivered another blow to Leicester City’s stuttering Premier League title defence as West Brom inflicted the Champions’ first home league defeat for more than a year.

Phillips made James Morrison’s opener on 52 minutes and scored Albion’s winner 20 minutes later.

That came via a horrible error from Danny Drinkwater as Leicester’s proud unbeaten home record in the Premier League was halted at 20 games
